| When
an individual is incapacitated or by choice requires someone to
make day to day life decisions the Court may appoint a “guardian.”
When
a guardianship is required or requested, the process goes through
the District Court system. Attorneys are involved as petitioning
attorney, Guardian et Litem, (represents the client’s wishes)
and a Court Visitor,
The
appointed guardian is then required to report to the Court at
least annually, or it can be more often as directed by the judge.
The
guardian is then responsible for advocating your wishes, (as appropriate),
appropriate placement or assistance to meet the client’s
needs and well being. |
