| This
trust makes it possible for persons with disabilities to find a
Supplemental Needs Trust with their own money and still maintain
their federal benefits including medicaid. Persons
who receive a lump sum payment from Social Security or an inheritance
can now place these funds in a Supplemental Needs Trust and avoid
being penalized by needing to spend down their funds and maintain
their eligibility.
There
is no minimum amount that must be maintained and no maximum. The
trust can be accessed as often as necessary, however, the disbursements
are discretionary with the Trustee. |
